Description

A spice that tastes and smells of liquorice and anise.

In Asian cuisines, star anise is a widely used spice and theme protector. In Chinese cuisine, star anise is used to season pork, duck and goose.
In Europe, star anise is used in gingerbread, plum and pear preserves and desserts, from drinks to Christmas tea and mulled wine.
The oil is used as a substitute for aniseed oil in bakery and confectionery products, ice creams and liqueurs.
Star anise is part of the mulled wine spice, gingerbread spice and spice mix.

In folk medicine, chewing star anise after a meal is recommended to ease digestion and improve breath. Star anise is also helpful against flatulence, cough and bronchitis.

Storage:The aroma of whole fruit will last for years if stored in a dark, dry and airtight place. However, the aroma quickly dissipates from the powder.
